Earlier today, Walsall Football Club's first-team travelled to the Proact Stadium as they faced Chesterfield in the Second Round of this season's Emirates FA Cup competition. You can read our match report below.

Following a delay to the start of the match, Walsall were the side that kicked the game off at a blustery Proact Stadium, 3:04 on the referee's watch.

The first real shot on goal came for the home side as Ebanks-Blake and Novak combined to see a shot swirl well wide of goal, the wind playing a part early on.

The wind continued to play a part, goal kicks being sent out of play, and long passes becoming an impossible chase, neither side managing to get any advantage in the early going.

Jason Demetriou, fed by a terrific Romaine Sawyers pass, did well to break down the wing, his cross a little too close to the 'keeper as the scores remained level.

As Ebanks-Blake sent in a cutting pass, Adam Chambers did well to prevent Novak from advancing, Neil Etheridge gathering the danger, the ref awarding a free kick as novak was a little robust in his challenge.

Walsall won a corner after thirteen minutes of play, Wood clearing from a Saddlers cross. The corner came to nothing, as the wind continued to play its part.

The Spireites won a corner of their own soon after, the home side taking advantage of a little bit of loose defending, Etheridge pushing a Donohue shot around his post. The corner came to nothing as Walsall defended well.

Etheridge was called into action again soon after, he did well to gather the ball ahead of Ebanks-Blake, a nice ball from O'Neill creating the opening.

Walsall opened the scoring after nineteen minutes of play, Jason Demetriou, who was found in space by George Evans, sent in a shot from a very tight angle, the goalkeeper, Richard Lee, had little chance to react as it tips off his glove and goes in.

After twenty-five minutes of play, Walsall's Neil Etheridge rushed a clearance which fell for Lee Novak, his shot drifted just wide of goal, Paul Downing not close enough to prevent the effort.

The home side were awarded a corner following good play between O'Neill and Ebanks-Blake. The initial ball was cleared, and Hird was offside as the ball was played back in.

The Spireites won another corner soon after, this was also cleared, as the Saddlers forced a goal kick as the chance was wasted.

Walsall struggled to keep the ball away from goal, as the wind forced them to look for short passes in midfield.

George Evans saw a shot go wide of goal following a fine Saddlers attack, Morris and Cook joining the advance as the home side were forced back.

Chesterfield broke up the field but failed to make use of the attack as a Wood header was easily grasped, the scores remaining level.

The wind continued to play a part as we headed towards half time, Neil Etheridge struggling to get his goal kicks away, and the defence finding it difficult to judge long balls.

It was Walsall, who had the slight wind advantage as the second half started. Milan Lalkovic breaking up field early on, a shot blocked as the defence did well to shorten the space.

Soon after, Lalkovic was again stopped in attack, a great tackle from Talbot to prevent the winger from getting a shot away.

The hosts went on to break up the field and saw a Novak cross evade everyone including an advanced Ebanks-Blake, as the wind again played a part.

The Saddlers won a corner as the Spireites sought to contain the wide Walsall attack. Paul Downing went close to grabbing another goal as his glancing header was cleared off the line by Donohue, Milan Lalkovic the man with the cross.

Walsall won another corner soon after, Morsi defending well as the Saddlers advanced. Jordan Cook went close to goal following a great Kieron Morris cross, the wind-assisted ball floating just past the post.

The hosts won a corner as we neared the hour mark, a good turn from Ebanks-Blake, his shot deflected wide. The Saddlers hacked the corner away as the remained in the lead.

The hosts' fans called for a penalty as, following a good pass by Talbot, Ebanks-Blake was felled in the box, the referee not interested.

Walsall would make their first change of the game as Kieron Morris was replaced by Anthony Forde, fresh legs on the wing for the Saddlers.

Neil Etheridge was alert to save from a Novak shot, then an Ebanks-Blake follow up, with the ball pinging around in the area, as the hosts began to feel the wind in their faces.

The hosts would make a double change soon after as Gardner and Banks replaced Donohue and O'Shea, a shuffle from the Spireites.

Walsall starlet Rico Henry then demonstrated his incredible ability, he took the ball the full length of the pitch, past several challenges to see a shot blocked as the defence recovered.

As Chesterfield won a free kick for a foul on Ebanks-Blake they made their third change of the match, Raglan replacing Wood. Gardner took the kick but Novak's flick fell for a Saddler, who cleared.

The hosts, who began to take a level of control in the game, won a corner which ended as Henry cleared from Gardner at the near post. Their second corner was played in and again a danger as Ebanks-Blake saw a bicycle kick rattle the bar, Walsall cleared as the defence looked to push up.

As we reached the seventy-five minute mark, Ebanks-Blake was again involved, he slipped inside the area as the home side called for a penalty, the referee not interested.

The hosts were awarded a free kick mid-way in the Saddlers half, the ball was taken by the wind, a frustrating end to the chance for the home side.

Walsall would make their second change of the game as Sam Mantom replaced George Evans, Mantom's first chance to play since collecting an injury against the Spireites earlier this season.

Mantom had a shot on goal very soon after coming on, his effort from distance was lifted over the bar by the wind, the 'keeper unmoved.

The hosts won a corner as a neat Ebanks-Blake pass was cut out, Evatt rose highest but could only send the ball over the bar.

As we reached the eighty-fifth minute of the game, Walsall made their final change of the match, Milan Lalkovic making way for Amadou Bakayoko.

O'Neill did well to find space following a good spell between Talbot and Ebanks-Blake, his downward header not troubling Etheridge.

The hosts levelled the scores with one minute of normal time remaining, a poorly dealt with corner leads to Morsy sending the ball over the line, the Spireites deserving their goal, however scrappy.

The game then became extremely scrappy, poor challenges and equally poor passing from both sides. Walsall won a free kick which resulted in Demetriou hitting the bar from distance.

James O'Connor defended against the home attack, as he took one for the team and collected a booking late into the match.

Ebanks-Blake was again involved late on, he forced a corner from an Etheridge save, the resulting flag kick came to nothing as we head to a replay.
