Earlier today Walsall Football Club's Under 18s side played host to Port Vale in the latest Football League Youth Alliance (North West) fixture of the season.

Neil Woods' Saddlers had won seven of their opening eleven league games, and arrived at the game following a 2-1 victory over Burnley. While Port Vale sat eleventh in the table and last played on Saturday, 7th November, an Alliance victory over Carlisle United.

The Valiants opened the scoring after thirty-eight minutes of play, as Taylor Attrell fired past Dan Jezeph following a neatly worked corner kick.

Walsall struggled to gain control of the match, and despite creating some good goal-scoring opportunities, would be unable to level the scores, with Attrell's goal proving enough to take all three points for the visiting side.
