Walsall Football Club have today released a statement confirming that the club has rejected an approach from a Sky Bet Championship club for manager Dean Smith.
The club confirm; "In response to recent media speculation, the club can confirm it received an approach from a Championship club for permission to speak to manager Dean Smith. This approach was categorically rejected.
"As one of the longest serving managers in the country, Dean has been instrumental in the club's progress since his appointment and is fundamental to our future plans. The club will be making no further comment."
It is understood that the club in question is Rotherham United, who are searching for a new manager following the sacking of Steve Evans late last month.
