Earlier this evening, Walsall Football Club wing-back Jason Demetriou was named among the Cyprus starting XI for their UEFA Euro 2016 qualification Group B match against Israel.
The match, which was played at the Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem, Israel, was looking to be a one-sided affair with Israel enjoying vast amounts of possession and more than double the shots on goal that their Cypriot opponents could muster.
However it was Demetriou's side that emerged victorious, as Konyaspor defender Dossa Junior opened the scoring just before the hour mark to take his side into the lead.
Israel did level the game after seventy-six minutes as Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton sent a right-footed effort into the top left corner of 'keeper Georgallides' goal.
Cyprus put themselves back in the lead just a few minutes later as Jason Demetriou found space in the box and fired past a helpless Ofir Marciano.
The game ended 2-1 to Cyprus and sees them move to twelve points in nine games, well clear of bottom of the table Andorra.
Cyprus face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday evening before the players return to their parent clubs in time for next weekend's games.
