Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the national press ahead of Wednesday evening's Capital One Cup clash with Chelsea, and has discussed the opportunity for his players to test themselves against some of the top players in the country.

Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the national press ahead of Wednesday evening's Capital One Cup clash with Chelsea, and has discussed the opportunity for his players to test themselves against some of the top players in the country.

Speaking via the Daily Star, Smith said; "It is going to be a test for the players but it is one that players at our level want to test themselves against.

"They are good characters and they want to test themselves against the best because that is where we want to go to go and play higher.

"This can certainly get them noticed. it is their chance to make some history for themselves."
