Earlier this afternoon Walsall goalkeeper Neil Etheridge collected another international cap as his Philippines side played host to the Maldives ahead of the Azkals 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification clash with Uzbekistan in a few days time.

Enfield-born Etheridge, who following several spells as a second choice 'keeper has made more international appearances than club appearances, collected his forty-fifth cap as his side defeated the Maldives by two-goals-to-nil.

Maldives defender Samdhooh Mohamed opened the scoring with an own goal, the Maziya man sent the ball over the line following a dangerous corner kick.

The Azkals doubled their lead soon after, as Esbjerg fB defender Jerry Lucena nodded home for the home side, his second goal for his nation.

Etheridge will be back in action on Tuesday, 8th September as the Philippines take on Uzbekistan in the latest stage of qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
