Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the local press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League 1 clash with Crewe Alexandra, and has confirmed that the club will take a look at Manchester City defender Ellis Plummer, as the former Stockport County man is due to train with the squad next week.
The 21-year-old, who joined City from in 2006, can play as a central defender or at left full-back, and has yet to make a senior appearance for City.
Since joining City, Plummer has had two loan spells; He spent a month with the Saddlers' Sky Bet League 1 rivals Oldham Athletic in 2013, where he made just four first-team appearances, and last season he joined Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on an initial season-long loan, which was cut short after just seven appearances.
