Earlier today Walsall Football Club's Under 18s played host to Accrington Stanley Under 18s in the opening Football League Youth Alliance (North West) fixture of the season.

Walsall took the lead after eighteen minutes of action, Rory Oliver broke through the away defence, passed to Will Shorrock, who rounded the 'keeper and slotted home, a great start to the season for the young Saddlers.

Accrington Stanley equalised almost immediately after, a looping header from defender Ross Sykes giving Saddlers stopper Dan Jezeph little chance, nice swift move from the visitors.

In the second half, both sides had good spells of possession and efforts on goal, but it was Walsall that got themselves back in-front.

Will Shorrock netted his, and the Saddlers' second goal of the game with the aid of a deflection, the Accrington 'keeper a little wrong footed as the ball flew into the net.

UP NEXT: The Saddlers are away to Preston North End next Saturday.
