Gamble Seeks to Clarify JPT Windfall Claims

Speaking at Walsall Football Club's 'Fans Focus' event on Tuesday evening, Saddlers Chief Executive Stefan Gamble discussed last season's visit to Wembley Stadium for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, and was swift to reject ideas that the cup run boosted the club's finances by over £500,000.

Speaking at Walsall Football Club's 'Fans Focus' event on Tuesday evening, Saddlers Chief Executive Stefan Gamble discussed last season's visit to Wembley Stadium for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, and was swift to reject ideas that the cup run boosted the club's finances by over £500,000.

The Express & Star report that he said; “It was a six-figure financial windfall for us, but not as big as some of the figures which have been bandied about.

“Don’t get me wrong, it was lucrative for us and something we hadn’t budgeted for. But there were a lot of costs which went against it.”
