One member of the Saddlers line up was an unknown trialist, who is understood to be a Spanish central defender who arrived at the club on Wednesday morning.

The Express & Star's Joseph Masi is reporting that Richard O'Kelly has confirmed that the defender, who was substituted at the break as the Saddlers took the game to the Scholars, will make another appearance for Walsall as they take on Sky Bet League 2 outfit Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Saturday afternoon.

Little is known about the player, but he is believed to be someone that Smith, O'Kelly and former Walsall coach Dean Holden looked at during their brief scouting trip to Spain ahead of last season.

Meanwhile former Leeds United midfielder Zac Thompson was also part of the Saddlers side that defeated Chasetown and managed to notch a superb goal before the break as he continues his second trial spell.
