Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the local press and provided more information on how the Saddlers will receive their share of money from the recent transfer of Will Grigg from Brentford to Wigan Athletic, and has revealed that the cash will not come all at once.
Speaking to Joseph Masi of the Express & Star, Smith said; “The money for that transfer won’t strengthen our hand straight away. We get a percentage of the profit but there are a lot of variables in deals like this.
“The agreement between Brentford and Wigan will be over a few years and it means we get our money when Brentford get their money.
“There won’t be a large sum of money transferred over to us straight away, football just doesn’t work like that.
“The good news though is that we now have money coming in that we hadn’t budgeted for, that will help us in the future.”
