Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to members of the local press and discussed his search for a central defender, insisting he will only sign players who are willing to fight for their place.
Speaking to Michael Beardmore of the Walsall Advertiser, Smith said; "I've been offered two or three centre-backs that we could take on loan. But I don't want to bring players in where their clubs demand they play – players have to earn the right to play. I'm talking to a couple of established centre-halves too."
