Following Saturday afternoon's pre-season draw with Aston Villa, Walsall manager Dean Smith spoke to the local press and praised young central defender Matt Preston.
Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Smith said; "He's a proper old fashioned centre-half – he wants to head it, wants to tackle and looks to keep the ball.
"He's progressed very quietly behind the scenes and we have high hopes of him progressing even further and we hope he can go and challenge the likes of Paul Downing and James O'Connor."
