Walsall captain Adam Chambers, who recently put pen-to-paper on a new one-year contract with the club, has spoken to the Saddlers' official website and discussed his delight at extending his stay, along with sharing his thoughts on the upcoming Sky Bet League 1 campaign.

Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Adam said; “I am chuffed that everything has been sorted. I’ve enjoyed my time here and it’s good to know that I will remain part of it.

“It was an honour to be given the captain’s armband at the start of last season; we had some real high and a few lows along the way. To be the first captain to lead the team out at Wembley was an extremely proud moment for me and my family.

“We put in some great performances and did well against some of the top teams last season, but inconsistency let us down in the end.

“The aim has to be to get into that top six this time around and having kept the nucleus of the team together, we’ll keep improving and with a few new additions, we can be a real force. We know what we are capable of and we’ll be looking to get that level of consistency that we need.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into it. Pre-season training is not something I particularly look forward to, but it is necessary to get us back to the required level for when the matches start again.”
