Walsall Football Club have had an exciting recent addition to their memorabilia from the past after a training ball used on that special day in January 1933 when the Saddlers caused one of the greatest FA Cup shocks of all time by defeating Arsenal, was donated to the club.

The actual match ball used in that famous 2-0 victory over one of the best club sides in the World at the time is on display at Walsall Leather Museum, but the club will be finding a suitable home at Banks’s Stadium for the training ball, which was kindly given to them by the family of Harry Wait.

The legendary Wait is a long-serving goalkeeper who spent almost four decades with the club in a variety of roles, during which time he became the oldest player to turn out for Walsall in a senior game at the age of 44 in 1936. He was trainer on the day that we shot down The Gunners.
