Earlier today, Walsall Football Club's under 18s side travelled North to take on Accrington Stanley Under 18s in the latest Football League Youth Alliance (North West) fixture of the season.

After a lively start, including a poor back-pass that almost put Walsall 'keeper Dan Jezeph in trouble, it was Walsall that took the lead with 25 minutes on the clock, a low cross from the right wing is met by a Saddlers an high-scoring Levi Rowley calmly dispatched the ball past Stanley's goalkeeper Jack Little.

Stanley equalised just a few minutes later, Max Hazeldine latching onto a ball behind the Saddlers defence, his accurate, powerful shot enough to beat 'keeper Jezeph who could not prevent from going over the line.

Both sides enjoyed good spell of possession and tested their opponents respective stoppers, who were more than up for the task.

Stanley took the lead just before half time, a Jack Hartley cross is headed home by Nathan Webb who gambled on the ball reaching him at the far post.

The Saddlers opened the second half with a good few goal-scoring opportunities but were unable to beat 'keeper Little.

On 57 minutes Stanley extended their lead, Webb's cross from the left looked to evade the Walsall defence as Hazeldine was alert at the back post to send the ball home from close range.

Both sides continued to enjoy good spells on the ball as the game headed to the full time whistle, but Walsall were unable to get themselves back into the running.
