On Sunday afternoon Walsall Football Club will travel to Wembley Stadium to take on Bristol City in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final, as part of the build-up Walsall Council have announced plans to lift parking charges in Walsall Town Centre on Sunday to help supporters who are planning on parking in town, and using coaches and trains to get to London, as well as fans who will be watching the match in the towns drinking establishments.

Councillor Lee Jeavons, portfolio holder for environment and transport at Walsall Council, told the Walsall Advertiser: "This is a really historic game in Walsall FC's history as it is the first time the club will have played at Wembley.

"Hopefully Dean and the boys can do the town proud and bring the trophy home. The club is taking thousands of supporters with them to London and I'm sure hundreds of others will be watching on big screens at venues across the town.

"As a council we want to encourage people to get behind them which is why we've decided to waive the parking charges this Sunday.

"We want everyone to enjoy the football but if, for example, you are planning to have a few drinks while watching the match please leave your car at home.

"This is a very proud day for Walsall Football Club and the town generally and I would urge people to remember this."

Parking charges will be lifted in both long stay and short stay council car parks. Motorists are reminded maximum parking time limits will apply, as displayed at each site.
