Speaking to the the Walsall Advertiser, Sam said; "I was absolutely flying off the wall, buzzing at the start of the game. It was a bit surreal being back around all of the players again and with the fans there. It was a bit different to sitting upstairs just watching the game which I've done mostly all season.
"It's just absolutely fantastic to be back out there running around and competing and trying to do your best for Walsall. I can only thank Jon Whitney and all the backroom staff for helping me to get back playing.
"I think my fitness levels are right up there at the minute. I've done a hell of a lot of work with Jon and I'm grateful to him for that because even in the reserve game on Tuesday I didn't suffer at all. I wouldn't say it was a walk in the park but I got through quite well. The first 20 minutes was obviously just trying to get back up to speed and blowing the cobwebs off but I feel fine now."
