GETHIN SET FOR FIGHT NIGHT

Walsall Football Club supporter and pro-Boxer Martin Gethin is poised to top the bill at one of Matchroom Sports' upcoming events, which takes place at the Ice Arena in Hull.
Walsall Football Club supporter and pro-Boxer Martin Gethin is poised to top the bill at one of Matchroom Sports' upcoming televised events, which takes place at the Ice Arena in Hull.

Walsall-born Gethin (W:25, D:1, L:6), who is a former British Lightweight Champion, made his professional debut in November 2004 defeating journeyman Kristian Laight, and is scheduled to take on 25-year-old Tommy 'Boom Boom' Coyle, (W:20, D:0, L:2), in a lightweight bout, which will take place on Saturday, 7th March, at the Ice Arena, in Coyle's hometown of Hull.

31-year-old Gethin, who is known as 'The Quiet Man', is part of a boxing family that owns and operates the Wild Star Boxing Gym in Aldridge, which provides customers aged six and up with a unique way to improve their fitness.

Martin, along with his brother Steve, is also a regular participant in the Walsall Football Supporters' Trust's Legends matches, as well as forming a part of Walsall Football Club's Community Programme, by offering Boxing and fitness lessons.

The event, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports' 'Fight Night Live', also has several other intriguing bouts on the card, including; exciting Birmingham man Sam Eggington, who will challenge Shayne Singleton for the WBC International Silver Welterweight title, Liverpool’s world-rated super middleweight Rocky Fielding is to return to action after a hand injury, and unbeaten light welterweight star Bradley Saunders, who will be building up to his Commonwealth title clash with Dave Ryan.
