Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League 1 clash with Bradford City, and has discussed Middlesbrough defender David Atkinson, who made an appearance during the Saddlers' reserves victory over Shrewsbury Town on Wednesday afternoon.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said; “It is just one we can have a look at with regards maybe for next season and it gives us an opportunity to bring somebody in the building who we can look at close at hand.
“He has been on the bench a number of times for Middlesbrough. He has come here and his attitude has been excellent.
“We are having a look at him for a couple of weeks. I know the people at Middlesbrough. I spoke to Steve Agnew last week and Dave Parnaby.
“He is someone they have thought highly of, but has not quite burst onto the first team scene as they would have liked.
“It gives us an opportunity to have a look at him and we will relay back to them on how he does.”
