The Football League have today announced details of who will take charge of Walsall Football Club's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final clash with Bristol City, which will take place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, 22nd March.

Mr. Mick Russell, who is based in Hertfordshire, has been appointed as the referee, whilst Mr. Chris Powell and Mr. Richard Wigglesworth will assist him.

Mr. Mark Haywood will be on fourth official duty, and Mr. Phil Dermott is scheduled to be reserve assistant referee.

He has officiated over twenty-two games in various competitions this season, where he has issued fifty-nine yellow, and three red cards.

The most recent Walsall game officiated over by Mr. Russell was last season's Sky Bet League 1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, which took place on Tuesday, 17th September 2013.

The match ended 1-0 to Walsall thanks to a 69th minute Andy Butler goal, and the result helped the Sadders gain revenge for a penalty shoot out defeat in that season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy competition, which took place two-weeks earlier.

Russell, who officiates across all three Football League divisions, made his debut in 2004 when he took charge of Scunthorpe United versus Rochdale in League 2.

He has refereed once in this season’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, taking charge of Coventry City’s 1-0 win at Wycombe Wanderers in Round 1, and was on the Wembley touchline as fourth official for last year's Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off Final between Leyton Orient and Rotherham United.
