It's been easy to gloss over some things this season, with a now confirmed trip to Wembley dominating the headlines for a while.

Even though the 0-0 draw with Preston certainly felt like a victory, as it was on aggregate, we still couldn't grab that illusive home win.

We were effectively protecting 2-0 for 90 minutes though so this can't really count. However, Sunday's draw with Gillingham can.

Walsall were on a high after winning their area final, but the Gills were in the opposite mood after losing out to Bristol City on the Thursday. Did we kick them while they were down though? No.

It was the same old story. The Saddlers dominated the first half and couldn't find a goal, so it was no surprise when Gillingham nicked one with 20 minutes to go. It has happened so often.

What can be said is that Dean Smith did well to rally his troops and they equalised just five minutes later. Ashley Grimes, ironically only on the field because of Tom Bradshaw's injury, slammed home an unmissable rebound.

It was just the type of chance an out-of-form striker prays for. It must be awful to be stuck in such a rut, so congratulations to Grimes for ending his drought and let's hope he can get a few more to repay Deano's faith.

Despite this though it still feels like two points dropped. And it now means that by the time Rochdale come to town on the 10th, we will have gone almost two months without a home win.

More victories are coming away from home where the Saddlers style of play seems to suit them, turning over the likes of MK Dons, Preston and Fleetwood on the road.

One factor is Bradshaw's failure to score in the last couple. The team relies almost exclusively on his goal tally at times and you can't expect the Welshman to score EVERY game.

The wingers have chipped in with a few more and Michael Cain has found his scoring boots, but it still isn't enough to compensate for when Bradshaw isn't hitting the back of the net.

Especially at home, defences are doubling up on Tom and taking him out of the game. In most sides another attacker would take advantage if that extra space - the Saddlers aren't.

With Bradshaw sidelined (let's pray it's not too serious) we will have to see what Grimes can do when he starts, or perhaps Manchester City youngster Jordy Hiwula can give us that spark up front.

Either way they need to find a solution soon. This away win-streak won't last forever and, with no sort of home record to fall back on at the moment, we would be in trouble.
