Walsall Football Club's defender James O'Connor has spoken to the press following Tuesday evening's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash with Preston North End, where the Saddlers booked their place at the Wembley final, defeating the Lilywhites over two legs, and has expressed his delight at being part of the first Saddlers team to make it to the national stadium.

Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, James said; “What a great honour to get this club to Wembley. It goes down in the club’s history and if you ever get a chance to do that wherever you are you’ve got to try and take it.

“I actually won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy when it was at the Millennium Stadium. The next year we had a play-off final at Wembley. So I’ve got two wins so far and hopefully I can make it three.

“The lads are there together. I’ve got a few pictures – you’ve got to make sure you get a few souvenirs and get them in your picture frames so you can look back at them at the end of your career.

“You’ve got to make sure you enjoy these moments as well, you don’t get many of them throughout your career and you don’t get many occasions to go to Wembley.

“We’ll enjoy the feeling and will put it to bed after tonight until March 22."
