Walsall Football Club first-choice goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell has spoken to the press ahead of Tuesday evening's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area Final (Second Leg) clash with Preston North End, and has discussed the need for the Saddlers to grab the game's first goal.

Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Richard said; We didn’t go to Preston happy to come away with a draw – we went there to try to win the game and that was what we did.

“And the second leg will be no different – we can’t afford to sit back as a) that’s not how we play and b) it would be inviting pressure.

“The first goal in the game is massive – we need to start the game right, start brightly and hopefully get that early goal.

“That Wolves game last year, they had the side stand to themselves but this time the ground is going to be full of Walsall fans, which the lads really appreciate.

“We are looking forward to it and hopefully we can see the job through for them and make it a memorable night."
