Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the club's official website following Saturday's Sky Bet League 1 victory over Barnsley, and has praised his sides' resolve as they came from behind to grab all three points.

Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Smith said; "It was a hard-earned win. We always knew it was going to be tough because they have some talented players in their side.

"I felt that we were a little flat until they scored and it sparked a response from us.

"It was a fantastic strike from Jordan Cook to level matters and from then on we played really well.

"We had to graft out there to get the three points and whilst we may have sat a little too deep at times in the second half, it was a deserved victory for us and one that extends our unbeaten League run and also puts us into the top half of the table.

"This result will give the lads a big boost; there were some pleasing performances out there and it was nice to see Jordan Cook score a couple and have an assist for our second goal."
