Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the official website of this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy competition, as they continue to build towards this week's set of Area Quarter Finals, which will see the Saddlers take on Sheffield United.

Amongst the topics covered Smith discussed Walsall's unfulfilled dream of playing at Wembley Stadium, and of his hopes to guide the club to the the home of English football for the first time.

Speaking to JohnstonesPaintTrophy.com, Smith said; “I constantly get reminded that the club has never been to Wembley so it would be fantastic for everyone involved if we could get there.

“The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and the play-offs are our two best chances of getting there but we know there is an awful long way to go in this competition.

“We have a very difficult game against Sheffield United and there are some very strong teams in our side of the draw (northern section) but we will certainly be giving it our best shot.”
