Earlier today Worcester City travelled the short distance to the Ricoh Arena to take on near rivals Coventry City in the First Round of this season's FA Cup competition.

Amongst the Worcester starting eleven, were Walsall Football Club striker Jordan Murphy, and former Walsall Centre of Excellence graduates Sean Geddes and David McDermott, the latter being an unused substitute.

Midfielder Geddes opened the scoring via a penalty late in the first half, slotting past substitute goalkeeper Ryan Allsop, who had been bought on following Lee Burge's dismissal which had led to the spot-kick. Sean then followed this up on the fifty-fifth minute, with a vicious strike from outside the area.

18 year-old Murphy, who joined the Saddlers after a brief trial spell in the summer, went close to scoring a few times, including having a header cleared off the line early in the second half.

Worcester went close to extending their lead on many occasions, Ellis Deeney guilty of wasting a chance with around fifteen minutes remaining.

Coventry got back into the game with around ten minutes remaining, Reda Johnson slotting home with a diving header, following James Maddison's free kick.

After more than seven minutes of stoppage time, the match finished 2-1 to the travelling side, who had taken 3,220 supporters to a bouncing Ricoh Arena.

Worcester will now join Walsall (and Shrewsbury Town) in the hat for the Second Round. The draw will take place tomorrow evening, LIVE on BBC TWO, with the draw expected to begin at around 7:15pm.
