Earlier this evening Walsall manager Dean Smith met with members of the press to discuss the Saddlers' 1-1 draw with table-topping Bristol City, and has spoke of his delight at another solid Saddlers display.

Speaking to saddlers.co.uk, Dean said; "It was an excellent performance. We've had a very good team on the back-foot for the majority of the game out there and can be very pleased with our efforts.

"We've scored a great goal; the build-up and the strike was of the highest order and it's already a Goal of the Season contender in my opinion.

"Other than a spell in the opening ten or 15 minutes of the second half, I felt that we controlled the game and were unlucky not to get all three points in the end.

"We wanted to work the ball from side-to-side as we always felt that Bristol City would tire as the game went on and so it proved. We looked the stronger as the game went on and can be pleased of our display."

Following the full time whistle Smith met with members of the press to share his views on the performance and result.

Dean also spoke to BBC WM, a brief cutting of which can be found below.
