Earlier this afternoon Walsall's Reserve side travelled to North Wales to take on Wrexham's Reserve side in the latest Final Third Development League fixture of the season.

Summer signing Michael Manset opened the scoring for the Saddlers after 26' minutes, by cutting inside his defender and firing past Wrexham's goalkeeper Louis Gray.

Fellow summer signing Ashley Grimes doubled Walsall's lead after 44' minutes, injury returnee Sam Mantom made a great run, splitting the Wrexham defence, before finding Grimes who sent the ball past the helpless goalkeeper.

Early into the second half Wrexham got themselves back into the game thanks to a Louis Moult goal, this boosted the home side's confidence as they took control of the match, restricting the Saddlers to a spell of defensive play.

The Saddlers held firm and secured all three points as they continue their largely successful Reserves season.
