This weekend, Walsall Football Club play host to table-topping big-spenders Bristol City, in the latest round of 2014/15 Sky Bet League One fixtures.

The Saddlers arrive at the game on the back of an encouraging 3-0 home victory over Doncaster Rovers, which was the Saddlers second home win on the bounce.

 WALSALL TEAM NEWS
Full back Ben Purkiss made another mid-week Reserves appearance, as he played during the Saddlers' 1-1 draw with Stoke City in the opening group game of the 'Final Third Development League Cup' on Wednesday afternoon.

Jordan Cook (ankle), who appeared on the bench v Doncaster, and Matt Preston (thigh) also started the mid-week Cup game. Cook is expected to be in the first-team squad at the weekend, whilst Preston is still short of fitness.

The only known absentee continues to be Sam Mantom (knee) who is still unable to make an appearance.

 OUR OPPONENTS
Bristol City, who are yet to taste defeat in the league this season, arrive at the game on the back of a 3-2 victory over Milton Keynes Dons.

The Robins have dropped just six point in their opening ten games of the season, scoring twenty-one goals, and conceding nine, most of which come from the aforementioned MK Dons win, and a 3-3 draw with Fleetwood Town a week earlier.

City have no new injury concerns heading into the game and are expected to field a strong side as they look to continue their push for Championship football.

 HEAD TO HEAD
This weekend's meeting will be the 65th between the two, with the Robins holding the head-to-head advantage of twenty-eight wins to the Saddlers twenty-one. There have also been fifteen draws between the two sides.

Their first encounter took place on 3rd October 1936, and ended all-square at 0-0 in Division Three (South).

In more recent times, Walsall have lost all of the last four meetings, failing to score a single goal in the process.

Their most recent match ended 0-1 to City thanks to Sam Baldock's 45 minute penalty back in April.

The last time the Saddlers emerged victorious was on 11th February 2005, when a 75th minute Andrew Surman goal was enough to secure all three points for the Saddlers in-front of 10,820 at Ashton Gate.

 THE OFFICIALS
This weekend's referee is scheduled to be Mr. Keith Hill, who is based in Hertfordshire. 46-year-old Hill, has officiated over nine matches this season, where he has issued thirty yellow and one red card.

Mr. Neil Hair and Mr. David Plowright are scheduled to be referee's assistants, whilst Mr Robert Merchant will be Fourth Official.
