The former Saddler has passed away.
Earlier this afternoon Walsall FC confirmed the sad passing of former West Bromwich Albion, Walsall and Port Vale half-back Charles John "Tim" Rawlings.

In a statement released via saddlers.co.uk, the club confirmed: "We are sad to report the passing of former Walsall FC player, Tim Rawlings, at the age of 81.

"He started his career with West Bromwich Albion, where he signed professional forms in March 1950, but having found his first-team opportunities limited at The Hawthorns, he joined The Saddlers in the summer of 1956.

"Settling in quickly at Fellows Park, he was a tireless performer who helped the club achieve successive promotions in 1959/60 and 1960/61 on his way to 207 appearances in all competitions for the club.

"In July 1963 he moved on to Port Vale having given Walsall sterling service and spent two years with The Valiants before retiring from the professional game."

Rawlings joined Port Vale from the Saddlers in June for a fee of £4,000 1963 and scored twice in 31 League games over two seasons at Vale Park.

He left the Vale in April 1965 and went on to join Nuneaton Borough and hometown club Coleshill before retiring from the game.

His funeral is to be held at Robin Hood Cemetery, Streetsbrook Road, Hall Green, West Midlands from 2:30pm on 14th October.

We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Tim's family, friends and fans during this sad time.
