Walsall Football Club player/coach Dean Holden has spoken to the press following Saturday afternoon's disappointing league defeat to previously win-less Scunthorpe United, which saw the Saddlers extend their poor run to just three wins in twenty-five league and cup matches.

Speaking to the Express & Star, Dean talked about club manager Dean Smith, and insisted that the team have a great opportunity to prove their doubters wrong and turn things around, he said; “He is an honest manager. You know yourself when you have come off the pitch if you have performed or not, whether things have gone your way or not.

“What a brilliant challenge we have got in front of us now. You can go two ways, you can go under and you can start thinking you are bad players overnight and walking around like you have the world on your shoulders, or you can come in and work.

“We have not had a great start but there is a great challenge out there for us.

“Every day you go training you want to try and improve and put things right and if that is motivation, to prove people wrong or whatever, there is a great opportunity for us.”
