Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the press ahead of tomorrow's trip to Scunthorpe United, where he confirmed that mid-week recruit Mathieu Manset will be available for selection against the Iron.Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said; “Mathieu will be available for selection, certainly. He’s been training regularly and played 45 minutes on Wednesday and looked good – it was pleasing. One of the things he will have to work on while he is here is continually getting as fit as he can."
Smith also spoke about Mathieu's somewhat chequered past, which includes playing for four different clubs, across three different countries, during the past two season's.
He said; “That was one of the things we first spoke to him about. You look at his recent history and it is a little bit chequered.
"He got a big move to Reading from Hereford where he first made his name and I think the lights got to him a little bit and he went off track a little bit.
“He has been looking for somewhere to get his career back on track. He is hoping this can be the place for it.”
