Former Walsall defender Scott Dann has spoken to the press ahead of tonight's Capital One Cup Second Round tie with Crystal Palace.

Liverpool-born Dann began his football career with Walsall in 2003 after a trial spell. He went on to sign professional terms in the summer of 2004.

Scott moved swiftly up the ranks at the Bescot Stadium to become a regular in the reserve side throughout the 2004/05 season.

He left the club in 2008 and went on to forge a career with Coventry City, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and finally, Crystal Palace, whom he joined in January this year, and helped secure their Premier League status for another season, with the Eagles ending the campaign in 11th place.

Speaking to the Croydon Advertiser, Dann said: “I haven’t been back there since I left and obviously I have got fond memories.

“It’s where I first started league football and I really enjoyed my time there so it will be nice to go back there.

“Hopefully we can get the right result and get through to the next round.”
