27-year-old former Real Avilés midfielder Borja Prieto Ruiz is to return home after seemingly not doing enough to impress the manager during three friendly appearances.

Barakaldo-born Ruiz, who made around 15 appearances for Real Avilés CF last season, scored during the Saddlers' 3-1 victory over Leamington.

32-year-old veteran striker Danny Webber will remain with the club until atleast the end of the week, after making several appearances during the pre-season campaign.

Dean Smith told the Express & Star; “I thought Ruiz did OK. But at 27 years-old I had to wonder just where could he go with us.

"If I keep him he is going to be in the way of lads like Reece Flanagan. Danny is still with us and we will see how things go.”
