IN BRIEF: MANTOM LINKED WITH TERRIERS

Walsall Football Club midfielder Sam Mantom continues to be linked with a move to Sky Bet Championship side Huddersfield Town.

Last week several independent sites claimed Town had submitted a bid for the 22-year-old, who began his career at West Bromwich Albion, which resulted in the Saddlers denying any contact.

However, a brief mention in the Huddersfield Daily Examiner seem to offer atleast some credence to the rumours.

Huddersfield look set to lose midfielder Adam Clayton to Middlesbrough, and the Terriers are said to be keen on bringing in Mantom to fill the void.

Mantom rose through the ranks at the Hawthorns and penned his first professional contract in 2010, he failed to make a single league appearance for the side but did enjoy loan spells with, Icelandic side Haukar, Tranmere Rovers, Oldham Athletic and Walsall, whom he ultimately joined on a permanent basis after agreeing his West Brom release at the beginning of last season.

Sam made almost fifty first-team appearances for the Saddlers last season and is seen as a major part of the club's future plans.
