According to reports local to the club, Walsall's Sky Bet League One rivals Bristol City are set to table an offer for former Saddlers' striker Will Grigg, who is said to be out-of-favour at current club Brentford.
Reports in the Bristol Post suggest that Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill highly rates Grigg and hopes the Northern Ireland international can provide competition for strikers Sam Baldock and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.
Last year the Bees, following a tribunal hearing, paid Walsall £325,000 for Grigg and handed him a three-year contract.
The Post reports: "Brentford will want to at least recoup the money they spent 12 months ago and a deal can be struck if City are prepared to meet the asking price of around £300,000.
"Grigg first came to prominence when making his debut for Walsall as a raw teenager in 2008. He went on to play 109 times for the West Midlands outfit and finished the 2012/13 campaigns as top-scorer for the Saddlers with 20 goals.
"That form prompted Brentford to part with money for his services and persuaded Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill to call him up to the full national squad last year. Grigg has five senior caps to his name.
"City manager Cotterill is in the market for a striker to partner Baldock and Grigg’s work-rate, mobility, ability to hold the ball up and power in the air render him an attractive proposition.
"Robins director of football Keith Burt watched the striker last season and has been working on a possible deal while Cotterill has been away on holiday."
As part of Grigg's initial transfer, as well as the initial fee, Walsall were due £30,000 for every 20 competitive first-team games Will played up to a maximum of 100.
The Bees would also have had to pay £50,000 if promotion to The Championship was achieved and £250,000 if promotion to the Premier League was secured.
Along with a 20% sell on clause if and when Will is transferred from to another club.
