WALSALL REVEAL HISTORIC SALE TO ASTON VILLA

Walsall chairman Jeff Bonser has today announced the immediate sale of Walsall Football Club Ltd to Aston Villa owner and chairman Randy Lerner.
Walsall chairman Jeff Bonser has today announced the immediate sale of Walsall Football Club Ltd to Aston Villa owner and chairman Randy Lerner.

In an historic deal, that will see Bonser remain at the helm, the Saddlers will become part of Villa's Academy system, with young players signing short-term deals to gain much needed first team football at the Banks's Stadium, before returning to Villa Park to begin their career at the highest stage.

Speaking in-front of a packed Banks's Stadium Press Room, Jeff Bonser said; "I am delighted to announce today's history making deal, Walsall Football Club will now form part of Aston Villa's Youth System and will hopefully play a major part in establishing Aston Villa as the 'The Pride of the Midlands'"


Former Cleveland Browns owner Lerner, also spoke of his pride at today's deal, he said; "I'm very happy to have completed today's deal. Walsall Football Club will play a key part in the rise of Aston Villa, and the fans should be very proud of the part they will also get to play. I hope to see a packed crowd as the club fields some of the best young talent the Villains have to offer."

Also included in today's deal is the immediate sale of Walsall's Banks's Stadium and Essington Training Ground, the clubs Centre of Excellence will also receive a major overhaul in order to cater to the Villa's more stringent training techniques.

Walsall manager Dean Smith is yet to comment as rumours now surround the 43-year-olds position at the club, as Villa's youth team manager Tony McAndrew is likely to take his place.
