The Saddlers go into the game on the back of a 3-0 Black Country Derby defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Walsall, who have not tasted victory since the 5-1 demolition of Notts County on 25th January, the Reds have also failed to register a single point since the 0-0 draw with Peterborough United on 14th February.

Walsall will be without midfielder Sam Mantom who will complete his three match ban. Left-back Andy Taylor could drop out of the side as a precaution following his recent knee injury. Craig Westcarr and Paul Downing  are expected to return to the starting line up after being rested for the Wolves game at the weekend.

Relegation threatened Crewe are also in the midst of a poor run of form, the Alex have won one of their last three games, two in the last seven. They will also be hoping to avenge a 3-0 defeat, suffered in the reverse fixture last September.

Crewe captain Abdul Osman, midfielder Bradden Inman and striker Ajay Leitch-Smith all returned to training on Monday.Goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, forward Ryan Colclough and striker Max Clayton are all still out.

In terms of head-to-head Walsall hold the lead with thirty one wins to Crewe's twenty-one, there have also been fifteen draws between the two.

This weeks referee is scheduled to be Tony Harrington who is based in Cleveland. Referee Harrington has officiated over twenty games this season, in various competitions, where he has issued fifty-one yellow and five red cards, he has also awarded seven penalties.
