Walsall manager Dean Smith has until the end of today to put in an appeal against club captain Andy Butler's red card which he picked up during the Saddlers' 3-0 defeat to Milton Keynes Dons at the weekend.Following the game Smith told the press, "It was a harsh sending off. Yes, it was a penalty, but their lad was going away from goal and I don't feel that it warranted a red card."
Walsall have had a previous Butler red card rescinded, following his dismissal at Leyton Orient earlier in the season.
There is also a risk of the FA's Disciplinary Panel ruling against the club and increasing the ban from one to three games if the appeal is ruled frivolous.
