32-year-old Rodgers, who is currently a free agent following a spell with Swedish outfit Hammarby IF, began his career at Shrewsbury in 1999 and following an impressive time in the youth system went on to score 67 goals in 204 appearances.

In 2005, Rodgers rejected a new one-year contract with Shrewsbury and opted to join Crewe Alexandra on a two year contract, he went on to make around 40 appearances for the Alex before falling out of favour with Dario Gradi, he went on to sign for Port Vale in January 2007.

Following nearly 60 appearances and a loan spell with Yeovil Town, he departed Vale Park in 2009.

Luke went on to have spells with Yeovil Town, Notts County, New York Red Bulls, Lillestrom, and Portsmouth, before a brief return to Shrewsbury Town in November 2012.

He left the club in March 2013, after scoring just twice in 15 appearances, he went on to sign a short-term contract with Swedish Superettan club Hammarby IF in July 2013.

According to Sky Sports, Birmingham born Rodgers is also a target of Sky Bet League One rivals Coventry City and Notts County.
