JULIAN GRAY TO LEAVE THE CLUB

Walsall Football Club and Julian Gray have failed to come to terms on a contract extension that would have seen the winger remain with the club until the end of the season.
Walsall Football Club and Julian Gray have failed to come to terms on a contract extension that would have seen the winger remain with the club until the end of the season.

Two-time Saddler Gray originally joined The Saddlers in February 2010, following his release from Barnsley, and signed a one-year deal at the start of the following season. Julian made over sixty first-team appearances and scored fourteen goal before departing at the end of 2010/11.

Before returning to Walsall Gray had a two-year spell with Cypriot side Nea Salamis Famagusta.

Following his return to the club at the beginning of the season Julian has scored one goal in twelve substitute appearances.

Walsall manager Dean Smith took to Saddlers.co.uk to express his gratitude to Julian for his service to the club, and to wish him well for the future, he said; "I am disappointed to have to let him go because I like him as a footballer and as a person. Unfortunately he was unable to break into the starting line-up and make the impact that he wanted to.

He continued, "We certainly wish him well and we will be doing all that we can to assist him in finding another club. On behalf of everyone at Walsall FC, I would like to thank him for his efforts during his two spells with the club"

The Saddlers will now concentrate on acquiring a new striker, and are set to reveal a new face later this week.
