COVENTRY GAME IN-DOUBT FOLLOWING DOWNPOUR

Walsall's trip to Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium to face Coventry City is in doubt following torrential rain in the region.
Walsall's trip to Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium to face Coventry City is in doubt following torrential rain in the region.

Northampton's game against Rochdale was postponed yesterday through water-logging and weather forecasters are predicting further rain in the coming days.

It is also believed that the pitch at Sixfields has suffered considerable damage and will require a dry spell to begin the process of repair.

A Northampton spokesman said; "It depends on the weather between now and the weekend but we’re hopeful of a dry day or two, and if that happens then there’s every reason to be optimistic."

It is likely a pitch inspection will be held on the morning of the game to give the pitch the best chance of making a recovery.
