WALSALL LEGEND RELEASED

Walsall legend Jimmy Walker has announced his retirement from the game.
Walsall Football Club have terminated the contract of club legend Jimmy Walker.

Jimmy began his career as a trainee at Notts County but failed to make a single first-team appearance.

He joined Walsall in August 1993, making his debut just a few weeks later.

Wacka went on to make over 475 appearances during the next eleven years at the club,

Jimmy joined West Ham United on a free transfer in the summer of 2004, he went on to make around fifteen appearances for the Hammers including the 2004/2005 Championship play-off final victory which saw West Ham return to the Premier League, Wacka missed the majority of the season due to a serious knee injury picked up in the final.

During his time at Upton Park Jimmy also spent a spell on loan at Colchester United.

In September 2009 a newly released Wacka joined Tottenham Hotspur on a short-term deal to act as cover for the first team, after failing to make a single appearance Jimmy was released in July 20120.

The 39-year-old returned to The Banks's Stadium shortly after, and went on to break Colin Harrison's all time appearance record of 529 Saddlers appearances in January 2012.

At the beginning of this season Jimmy agreed to a new one year player/coach deal following a summer of negotiations.
