The Dublin born stopper began his career at Irish side St Francis FC before being snapped up by Ipswich Town in 2009.
Following spells on loan at Lowestoft Town and Stockport County McLoughlin linked up with MK Dons in 2011 and has made one first-team appearance.
He goes straight into the squad for today's trip to Preston North End.
