HUMPHREY WANTS LAST LAUGH OVER 'HOMETOWN' CLUB

Preston North End winger Chris Humphrey, who moved to Walsall at the age of five, has spoken to PNE's official site ahead of this evening's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash between the Lilywhites and Walsall, and has discussed his desire to get the last laugh over his 'hometown' club.

Speaking to pnefc.net, Humphrey, who has a spell in the Walsall FC Centre of Excellence in the early 2000's, said; "I'm very excited for tomorrow, for me it's in my home town, if selected for the game, even if not you come off the bench and do your part so I'm really looking forward to it tomorrow and I can't wait.

"When I was a kid I used to go to Walsall games and when they used to sell out in the Championship and if the opposition score it can be the quietest place in the world. Yes they can sell-out, yes they can have all their fans but if we score early then what? We will be hearing our fans and I'm sure we'll be hearing them throughout the whole game whether it's a sell-out or not because the away support is fantastic.

"I've had to get 20 tickets for my family and friends and they live in Walsall but that's loyalty from them coming and sitting in the away end and supporting me so when you've got friends and family around the place, you go out there and warm up and you see them in the crowd you think yes come on now, I'm ready. Then you might look in the Walsall end and see a group of your other friends and think right you're getting it.

"All I had after the first game was phonecalls and voice mails singing 'we're going to Wembley' and this is what their mentality is, especially my friends, they think that they're there already and for me I love that because the fact is if we score early and we can pull it off I will have the last laugh and that's the aim.

"We go there, we have nothing to lose, we are just going to go there and try and win the game, I really think that if we turn up and we play our best football we will win the game."
