Along with visiting Banks's Stadium for this weekend's clash with Wycombe Wanderers, Jorge, who scored seventy-one goals in 262 appearances, will also be taking part in the Supporters' Trusts annual 'Fans v Legends' game, which takes place at Rushall Olympic's Dales Lane on Sunday afternoon.

LEITAO DONATES TO WFC SIERRA LEONE

This past weekend Walsall Football Club legend Jorge Leitao returned to the area for the the first time in many years, as part of his return he took to the field for the club's 'Club Legends Cup' entry - which despite finishing at the bottom of their group - was seen as a massive success, thanks largely to the great level of support shown from the Saddlers fans' who outshone all others at the event.

SADDLERS TO OFFER NEW DEALS

Walsall manager Dean Smith and Chief-Executive Stefan Gamble are planning to offer new contracts to several soon to be out-of-contract players in an attempt to avoid the end of season confusion that surrounded the club at the end of the previous campaign.

Will Grigg, Andy Taylor and club captain Andy Butler are amongst several players whose deals are due to expire at the end of June 2013.

Last summer saw a turnover of around eighteen players including, Player of the Year Mat Sadler, Manny Smith, Darryl Westlake, Olly Lancashire and Alex Nicholls, leading to a massive void in the squad.

With Dean Smith tied down until 2015 the club are hoping to tie down several of the squads higher valued players before the beginning of next year.

SMITH PENS NEW DEAL

Walsall Football Club have announced that first team Manager, Dean Smith, has penned a new two and-a-half year deal that will take him through to the end of the 2014-2015 season.

Smith was appointed in January 2011, following the departure of Chris Hutchings and Martin O'Connor.

Since his appointment the club have begun long-term project, with the onus on the adoption and implementation of a ‘football philosophy’ that is centered around a fluid, passing style of play, hard work and the development of local, emerging talent, which includes the appointment of Richard O'Kelly as assistant manager.

STRIKER SHIPPED OUT

Walsall youngster, Connor Taylor has joined Blue Square Bet Premier side, Nuneaton Town for an initial one-month loan.

The 20-year-old striker joined The Saddlers from Aston Villa in the summer, where he made good progress through their youth ranks after being signed from Coventry Sphinx in 2011.

Taylor has had little opportunity to make an impact for The Saddlers and will benefit from a spell of first team football.
