Central League: Walsall to Take on Scunthorpe United Later Today

Walsall's development side will play their second EFL Central League fixture of the season later today as they take on Scunthorpe United Reserves at Birkdale Park in Bottesford.
After a season-long hiatus Walsall have been placed in the North East Midlands league of this season's competition and will come up against along with this afternoon's opponents will take on Doncaster Rovers, Grimsby Town, Mansfield Town, and Rotherham United over the course of the campaign.

The Saddlers opened their campaign with a one-all draw at home to Mansfield Town as James Hardy's first-half opener was cancelled out by Jordan Graham just three minutes from time.

Whilst the Iron are yet to open their Central League campaign, they have been active with their most recent game taking place last Wednesday, when they defeated Bottesford Town by five-goals-to-two in a friendly fixture.

Along with the Central League, Walsall will take part in the Birmingham, Staffordshire, and Walsall Senior Cups, giving the squad plenty of opportunities to impress and earn a place in the first-team.

Today's match will kick-off at 2.00pm, and admission is set at £3 for adults and £1 for Over-65s and Under-18s.
