Saddlers Captain Adam Chambers Undergoes Surgery on Broken Foot

It has been revealed that Walsall captain, Adam Chambers, has undergone an operation on his foot, with the 37-year-old midfielder not expected to be back in action for another ten weeks.
Sandwell-born Chambers, who joined the club in July 2011, has made well over three-hundred first-team appearances during his time at Banks's Stadium and has been one of the team's more consistent performers despite his advancing years.

Adam hasn't played since the opening day League One victory over Plymouth Argyle, where he suffered the initial injury, which was soon discovered to be a broken metatarsal, which he has now had surgery to repair.

Despite losing his place in the side for another few months, manager Dean Keates, who is preparing his side for this afternoon's League One clash with Barnsley, has insisted that the skipper is still having a positive impact on the rest of the squad.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Keates confirmed the injury and praised the long-serving midfield man, he said; "He has had an operation – he has had a plate put in his fourth metatarsal. It’s now a case of him doing his rehab and letting the foot settle down.

"I think we are looking at around the eight to 10 week mark before he is back playing. But Chambers is a great pro. He is back in the building, he comes in on his crutches. And he is a good character to have around the place.

"He is very fit. You look at his age, you have to be fit to still be playing at this level at that age. He looks after himself. And a character like that is great to have in the group. He has always got a smile on his face and is contributing in that way."
