Loan Watch: Slinn & Vann in FA Cup Action

Walsall goalkeeper Joe Slinn, defender Dan Vann, and striker Cameron Peters are currently spending time away from Banks's Stadium in search of some all-important first-team football.
Stopper Slinn, who joined the Saddlers on a free transfer from Port Vale over the summer, is with Rushall Olympic, whilst academy products Vann, and Peters are with Matlock Town, and Bromsgrove Sporting respectively.

With Bromsgrove Sporting being knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup by Alvechurch at the Preliminary Round stage, Cameron Peters had a rare Saturday afternoon off.

Joe Slinn and Dan Vann were not afforded such a luxury and returned to action on Saturday as their respective loan sides looked to secure a spot in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.

Joe Slinn
Joe Slinn retained his place between the sticks as Liam McDonald looked to overcome Sutton Coldfield Town to get through to the next stage.

Whilst the Pics were unable to secure a guaranteed place in the round, they will have another shot at it as they and the Royals played out a 2-2 draw at the Central Ground.

Rushall grabbed the opening goal of the game as Ben Lund found the back of the net before half-time. But the Pics were unable to retain their advantage as Jordan Nadat levelled the scores early in the second forty-five.

Ashley Sammons continued his fine run of form as he put the Pics back into the lead only for James Beresford to level the scores nine minutes from time.

No clean sheet for Slinn, but he will have another opportunity to secure one as the two sides will meet again in a replay on Monday evening.

Dan Vann
Dan Vann's Matlock Town were also in FA Cup action as they faced Halesowen Town with a view to securing a spot in the Second Round.

The Gladiators, who have been in dire form over recent weeks, were ultimately unable to stop the rot as Halesowen went on to secure safe passage to the next round with a 2-1 victory.

Goals from James Roberts, (6'), and Lee Hughes, (71'), either side of Shaun Harrad's 59th minute penalty were enough to see the Yeltz through to the next stage, with £6,000 to add to their coffers.

Both form and injury woes for Matlock, who will need to pull together if they are to get their campaign back on track any time soon.
